Teenage girl's face is destroyed by a flesh-eating bug from routine dental work to remove one of her teeth

A teenager has been left with 'no face' after catching a flesh-eating bacteria from routine dental work, it is claimed.

Suth Ret, 18, developed Necrotizing fasciitis after one minor procedure in December that one of his teeth removed.

Had his wound treated quickly enough, the bacteria that existed in his throat found its way into his bloodstream.

And this meant that the error started to havoc on it, further eroding the skin on the right side of his skull and leaving it with 'no face'.

Last week was rushed to the hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, weighing just 5st 9 lbs (38kg). Canadian Expat Yulia Khouri, who lives in the same village as Suth, has called for international aid and funds tocover medical expenses. He got in touch with them through a localman who posted photos on the Internet and asked for help...

Yulia, originally from Toronto, said: ' when I saw there was nothing that could be done but helps.

' She has been conscious, fully aware through all of this, but she does not know the extent of the damage to his face.

' I can't imagine levels of pain has gone through. It is not that she is ill, or has cancer or some disease.

' She was 100 percent healthy three months ago. She was sneezing and now she has no face.'

Suth has been visited by a German team of facial reconstruction surgeons and a surgeon Malaysian with 40 years of experience.

Yulia added: ' it's a race against time, but she is stable. We are trying to raise money to help their recovery.'

According to the NHS, the bacterium that causes the infection and lives in various places in the body.

Despite usually does not cause problems, they can, in some cases, lead to the mortal condition through blood or a wound.

WHAT IS NECROTIZING FASCIITIS?

Necrotizing Fasciitis is most commonly caused by infection with Group A Streptococcus.Those infections usually last a few days - they aremild and usually are cleared up.

But in some unusual cases, they can be turned into Necrotizing fasciitis. They infect the flat layers of a membrane known as the fascia, which are bands of tissue connective tissue that surround the muscles, nerves, fat and blood vessels. The infection also damaged tissues along the fascia. Sometimes the toxins these bacteria destroy tissue infected, causing it to die.

When this happens, the infection is very serious and can result in theloss of limbs or death.
